Hello, Planner Friends!

This week I'm using the March Brimbles Sticker Bundle (aptly titled Hop To It!) to create my weekly planner layout for April 2-8.

First up, I need to confess that I absolutely adore pink and green as a colour combination, so the colours this month are right up my alley.

My second confession is that I decided to give a vertical planner layout another shot - traditionally, I don't do so well with vertical spreads, but in an effort to make the best use of the stickers that I have, I thought why not? A change can be as good as a holiday, and while initially I wasn't all that impressed with myself (I call it a moment of weakness!), I've actually come to really like the way this planner spread looks.

So let's get to it!

As always, I have a video of my planner process:

I created my own planner inserts for this spread, and while I'm still working out the kinks in the actual formatting of them, I'm loving the layout. Mondays and Tuesdays are typically pretty quiet days for me, so they are my smallest boxes, leaving Saturday and Sunday to have full-length boxes, because those are often my busiest days. And busy days need a lot of space!

The one thing I do need to get used to with vertical layouts is the spacing of everything. I love to decorate, so I need to really think about where I put everything down. 

Thank goodness I'm a white-space planner, because otherwise, this would drive me crazy. But the truth is, I love having space to just list or write or doodle in my planner for all those little things that come up on a daily basis.

And, can we talk about how gorgeous the little frogs are for a moment. They've got such great character and I adore them!

Happy New Year!

It's crazy to think that January is nearly half-over and 2018 is in full swing, but I have to say that Anna's December Sticker Kit - My Deer You Sparkle - was the perfect set to get me going with planning in the new year.

This month I'm sharing two layouts with you - my January monthly spread, as well as a weekly layout. The inserts I use are ones that I make for myself (in Powerpoint, with tables, so it's super easy to do if you need inserts on the run) printed on 120gsm paper.

I decided to split the sticker kit into 2 sections - the more 'new years-y' stickers for the monthly layout, and the beautiful watercolour animals for the weekly layout. Both are 2018 themed, but they're different enough that it doesn't feel like repeating.

I stuck to Anna's colour palette of black, gold and white with all the additional extras, too. All the washi tapes came from my (rather sizeable, and thus very ready to be used) stash.

This week I used washi tape to divide up the boxes. I don't do this every month, because often I find it makes the page feel heavy and cluttered, but I don't mind it in this layout. The black and white colour palette for the washi tapes helps, I think and provides a nice contrast to the stickers.

I'm also a fan of having a 'heading' box - I divide each page into four, with one section for each day, plus a 'free' box that I use for heavy decorating. The position of the box has a tendency to change from week to week, and I've even been known to put it in the middle of the page!

This week, though, it's in the top left, reminding me that 2018 is all about new beginnings. No time to dwell on things past!

Hello, planner friends!

Every month I have an absolute ball playing with Anna's designs and this month was no exception. The August sticker kit club was themed 'Cats in Bloom' and that meant it was perfect for a Spring-themed layout. Here in Australia, we're about to hit Spring (and not a moment too soon - it's been pretty cold recently) and the bloom stickers were a perfect match for what I wanted to achieve.

All of the washi tape I used I pulled from my collection (which is going on about 5 years old now) and I tried to find some colours that would contrast with the beautiful watercolours.

I love how it turned out.

I hope that it inspires you to have fun with your monthly layouts - even in your personal size planners - and add a bit of colour.

Hello, friends! 

Today I'm here to share my latest planner layout with you - featuring the wonderfully cheerful and adorable Juicy Frootz stickers from the July Brimbles Sticker Club. If you're not already subscribed, you should definitely check out Anna's sticker club by clicking this link.

I had a lot of fun putting this layout together - it's bright and colourful and everything I need in a planner layout to ensure I'm looking forward to the week ahead.

This month I've been challenging myself to create a layout from a very minimal beginning - my planner pages are simply pages I've printed out with space for 8 boxes (Mon-Sun plus a 'title' box that goes wherever I feel is suitable on any given layout). There's no printed days or dates and I'm loving just going with the flow with my layouts.

Because there are no days or dates I have to get creative with how I label each day. This week I simply took a Sharpie Fine pen in black and scrawled the day and date - nothing super fancy. No hand lettering. Just my regular every day writing!

I used the 'washi' sticker strips to divide up my boxes, and turned one into a page banner and added the beautiful fruit characters all over my page.

Don't be afraid to layer up your stickers - make them over lap! It adds character. Sticker them across the middle of your spreads and don't be afraid to cut them up, the overall look still turns out fantastic even if you do these things.

Also, as a bit of an extra added bonus I also created a very quick Happy Planner layout. I don't normally share my Happy Planner layouts because it's usually purely functional and I don't often use stickers in it, but I figured why not for a week? You'll have to watch the video to see how it turned out!

The April Brimbles Box was an absolute delight to unbox and take in all of the wonderful stickers and planner pieces that Anna provided. It made it super easy to create a calm, beautiful planner layout that will inspire me during the week.

I love the versatility of all the items in this month's box, because not only does it tie in with the Camb's Planner Con (I hope those of you going have a marvellous time!), but it speaks to me about ALL of my interests - from planning to reading and just generally loving very cute things.

Don't forget, when you're planning your layouts - don't worry about what other people are doing, or what's 'on trend'. Your planner/journal/etc are YOUR space. You fill it with things that you love and don't ever doubt your ability to create something that speaks to you. Use as much or as little as you like and celebrate your creativity!

It's been a while since I shared my planner layouts here on this blog, but I think I'm going to get back into it, because it's a big part of my creative life. (Plus, I use these pages to record what I'm reading each week, so it's still a bit bookish!)

This week I'm using items from the February Brimbles Box (Love Bugs Stickers, Love Bugs Sticky Notes) and my own planner pages for March. The weekend banners are from PopMixDesigns.

This year I'm changing up my planner pages each month, so the month font is different. It just keeps me fresh and on my toes with my planning!

This month, I'm embracing Spring - we've got one month of it left and I'm hoping the weather will start to warm up!

Hello, Brimbles Box fans! This week I am using the very cute items that came in my September Brimbles Box to create a layout in my personal size planner.

This box came with some gorgeous stickers, illustrated by Anna, along with 12x12 scrapbooking papers (one and two), stickers and ephemera by Kaisercraft. There was also a fun clear stamp set and feathered washi.

Tip #1: Repeat stamp. I've said it before, but I'll say it again - stamps are awesome in planners. I've been known to use much smaller stamps and repeat stamp patterns up and down the inside margins of my planner pages, but you can do exactly the same thing with larger stamps. I like to think of the inside margins near the rings as dead space - I can't write under the rings! - which is perfect for adding those bigger items that risk taking over a layout!

Tip #2: Use the branding strips on your 12x12 papers. Not all of them have beautiful branding strips, but some do, and the ones in this month's kit fit that category. I had to use the beautiful quote In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different because not only is it a great message about being different but how could you throw it away?! I did the same with the pink and white crosses and then used the excess pieces to add extra interest to my day dividers!
